When Jon and I decided on Punta Cana for our destination wedding, there was no doubt who we were going to call to help plan it – Rosemarie Passarelli-Habel from LaMacchia Travel. Rosemarie has helped our family plan many wonderful vacations and she is the best in the business. She helped us with the decision to choose the Iberostar Bavaro for our wedding and got us in touch with the wedding coordinator right away. She booked the trip for all 32 of our guests and was more than helpful when anyone had questions about traveling to the Dominican Republic. Our destination wedding was more than we ever expected, and we are so grateful to Rosemarie and LaMacchia for making it so special for us!
I want to thank Laurie Compher for recommending such a beautiful resort. The Iberostar is one of the nicest resorts we’ve visited and we’ve visited several. The Jr. suite we had was spacious with a nice sitting area and beautiful patio. We we’re a short walk to the pool and bar area. The landscape was amazing with flowering trees and bushes. There were ponds with flamingo’s and ducks and birds, the main lobby bar had pair of peacocks wandering about. The food was excellent at the buffets and gourmet, they grilled out daily next to the pool with rib-eye steaks, hamburgers, shrimp-kabobs and the sort. We walked the beautiful white sand beach morning and night. It was a trip of a life time and we can’t wait to go back.
Thank you Laurie!
The Alaska trip was fantastic. Thank you for the Champagne Breakfast. It was perfect on the balcony. Definitely worth having a balcony as we saw orcas, humpbacks, porpoises, seals, and sea otters from our deck. Even a bear on a distant shore. The train ride was beautiful, but so long. We took the short Denali tour and it was a bummer as it was raining and we saw no wildlife. Mt. McKinley was spectacular as there was not a cloud in the sky. We took a lot of excursions-evening whale watching in Juneau, Helicopter to a glacier with dog sledding in Juneau, black bear cruise to Neets Bay in Ketchikan, and a jeep tour in Skagway. We drove ATV’s at Mt. McKinley and floated down a river in Talkeetna. Truly it was planes, trains, and autos! But the best part of the trip was Redoubt Mountain Lodge. It was amazing. The brown bears just circle the lake/river eating the salmon. They barely flinch when the boat pulls up next to them. There were times we were standing in the lake and so were the bears. If anyone says they want to see bears, send them to Redoubt. It was a great resort to stay it, but I noticed there were day trips that showed up for bear viewing every day. I have 3500 photos, but here are a couple of my favorites. All the bear shots are from Redoubt.
I booked a flight with Lamacchia a few months before my vacation. The experience was FANTASTIC! Everything was so easy and Maria was great to work with. I've used the book-it-yourself methods in the past and will never do so again, especially after finding out how much easier and more pleasant it is working through Lamacchia. The best part was that it cost nearly the same! I even called shortly before my vacation because I was worried about some potentially bad weather at our destination and was assured that should bad weather hit, we could reschedule. I looked into the airline directly and you couldn't do that, at least not without paying a large fee. Using Lamacchia was one of the best choices I've ever made. Thank you Lamacchia! Our vacation was great and we couldn’t have done it without you.
We had a great time at Iberostar! Thanks for everything you did! We are ready to go back for more Mexican sun!Linda Sebetic and the rest of the Richter Family
The whole trip was WONDERFUL! All of us said it exceed our expectations in the numbers of animals we saw, the accommodations and the food. Our guide, Semu Mbise, was outstanding; so knowledgeable and accommodating. He had 9 years of experience and we never had any issues where we felt in any kind of danger.
Probably the nicest place was Kitela Lodge, which is only about 1 year old. Had a swimming pool, spa (which we took advantage of one afternoon when we didn’t have a drive) and beautiful grounds; they raise their own coffee, fruit and vegetables. The owner was there and he served champagne and had open bar all night on New Year’s Eve, which was pretty special just being in Africa. Probably one of the nicest places any of us stayed at anywhere.
We also loved the Mbuze Mawe tented camp. We got to see a dance troupe that performed our first night there. The service was impeccable with all of our meals a la carte and served under metal domes that the lifted off at the same time. Since the dining room was also tented, it was pretty humorous when a baboon or rock hyrax would run across the top as we were eating. We also found out that baboons knew how to unzip the tents and actually came in on one of the guests, who had a banana in her room.
All the places we stayed were very unique, which made it fun to experience different lodges.
The weather was outstanding: mid 70’s to low 80s during the day and probably 60s at night. The first couple of days in Tarangire were a little steamy, but after that it was perfect. Our guide said that it was cooler than normal, especially in the Serengeti.
The animals were outstanding: saw hundreds of elephants, lots of zebras, giraffes and thousands of wildebeests. The best were the prides of lions (one had 3 cubs that we watched for about an hour with no one else around), 6 leopards – which is a lot since they are nocturnal, and 3 cheetahs, one of which we were within 10 feet of and he was just hanging out. We did see 2 rhinos, but they were several miles in the distance (not sure how our guide managed to navigate the rutty roads and still spot animals none of us would have seen.
The only glitch we had was our return to O’Hare, which was on time, on that Monday of the “polar vortex”. We had to wait 3 hrs. to get our bags due to equipment problems and the fact that the crew couldn’t be outside for any length of time.
I would highly recommend Kensington. Our guide told us they only have 15 vehicles in the country, which explains why we never saw any others. I thought the length of the time was about right, although I have to say I was sad when we had to leave.
It truly was the trip of a lifetime. Thanks again so much for your help on setting all of this up.
We have now booked with LaMacchia Travel for our last two big trips. In both cases, Jodi and Jessica have been of great assistance and definitely steered us in the right direction! They have the tools and the experience to guide you to what you want and expect! Simply provide your "must haves" and they will do the rest! We will continue to use LaMacchia Travel for trips to come! -Thank you from the Troy Family!
When considering a registry both my new husband and I knew we didn’t need any traditional items…one family can only use so many mixing bowls! While doing a little research we came across La Macchia. A honeymoon registry was exactly what we were looking for! I was so surprised that they would not only do our registry but they also did not take a percentage of our gifts like so many other companies we had spoken with prior to finding La Macchia.
Our families found it so easy to gift us with a contribution towards our honey moon…..the whole staff was amazing.
Three days after our wedding on May 25, 2013 we set out for Riviera Maya, Mexico. The travel was so easy! La Macchia had thought of everything including informing us about the aggressive timeshare salesman in the lobby of the airport. We arrived to find everything in order with our hotel. Our swim up room was amazing!
Even though, we were caught in the tail end of a hurricane 3 days after arriving the resort staff bent over backwards to make sure we had an amazing trip.
We would book again with La Macchia in a heartbeat! Thank you so much for making sure our honeymoon was amazing.
Everyone over at LaMacchia Travel should win an award for spectacular customer service. They're amazing. Along side their great service is some amazing deals.
Jodi at LaMacchia helped us plan the Hawaiian honeymoon of our dreams! She was very knowledgeable about all the islands and activities and which hotels would be good to stay at. She worked with us to fit our budget and made a lot of good recommendations. Everything was organized and ready to go before we even left. It was a completely amazing experience!!
