I had a great time in the Caribbean!

Dan Schlicht Monday, 10 March 2014

Just got back from a family vacation in Mexico. What a great time! I booked the trip, as I have on several occasions through LaMacchia travel agency. I just wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude towards them. Their professionalism, attention to detail and most importantly, keen insight into my unforeseen needs was top notch. As a small business owner who works directly in the public eye, I stress these characteristics to my own staff. I will use them again and suggest them for each of my friends.

The whole trip was WONDERFUL! All of us said it exceed our expectations in the numbers of animals we saw, the accommodations and the food. Our guide, Semu Mbise, was outstanding; so knowledgeable and accommodating. He had 9 years of experience and we never had any issues where we felt in any kind of danger.

Probably the nicest place was Kitela Lodge, which is only about 1 year old. Had a swimming pool, spa (which we took advantage of one afternoon when we didn’t have a drive) and beautiful grounds; they raise their own coffee, fruit and vegetables. The owner was there and he served champagne and had open bar all night on New Year’s Eve, which was pretty special just being in Africa. Probably one of the nicest places any of us stayed at anywhere.

We also loved the Mbuze Mawe tented camp. We got to see a dance troupe that performed our first night there. The service was impeccable with all of our meals a la carte and served under metal domes that the lifted off at the same time. Since the dining room was also tented, it was pretty humorous when a baboon or rock hyrax would run across the top as we were eating. We also found out that baboons knew how to unzip the tents and actually came in on one of the guests, who had a banana in her room.

All the places we stayed were very unique, which made it fun to experience different lodges.

The weather was outstanding: mid 70’s to low 80s during the day and probably 60s at night. The first couple of days in Tarangire were a little steamy, but after that it was perfect. Our guide said that it was cooler than normal, especially in the Serengeti.

The animals were outstanding: saw hundreds of elephants, lots of zebras, giraffes and thousands of wildebeests. The best were the prides of lions (one had 3 cubs that we watched for about an hour with no one else around), 6 leopards – which is a lot since they are nocturnal, and 3 cheetahs, one of which we were within 10 feet of and he was just hanging out. We did see 2 rhinos, but they were several miles in the distance (not sure how our guide managed to navigate the rutty roads and still spot animals none of us would have seen.

The only glitch we had was our return to O’Hare, which was on time, on that Monday of the “polar vortex”. We had to wait 3 hrs. to get our bags due to equipment problems and the fact that the crew couldn’t be outside for any length of time.

I would highly recommend Kensington. Our guide told us they only have 15 vehicles in the country, which explains why we never saw any others. I thought the length of the time was about right, although I have to say I was sad when we had to leave.

It truly was the trip of a lifetime. Thanks again so much for your help on setting all of this up.

I just wanted to say thanks to Leslie our travel agent, who went above and beyond in planning a cruise for my wife and I. She put a lot of time and effort into looking up different options for the trip, and for flights as well. It made for a stress free vacation and is very much appreciated. Thank You again!

Hello!! I want to let you know that Joe and I had a GREAT time in Mexico! It was one of the best vacations we've ever taken. And it all started with the service I received at LTA, continuing on with the service Joe and I received at the Seaside Suite resort. We really can't thank you enough.

Looking forward to our next vacation! XOXO

We contacted Maria Bonnano to help us plan our trip to Italy and Frace. She helped secure wonderful hotels and arranged all of the transportation. She was so helpful and friendly and sent us special greetings just before we left. I would definitely work with Maria again. Thanks you!!

We would like to thank Maria Bonanno and LaMacchia Travel for helping us plan our trip to Italy. We were gone the last week of September and the first week of October. Everything went off without a hitch. All the cities we visited were incredible, also the additional recommended excursioins were worth much more than the expense. The Hotels were terriffic and the ground transportation  superb. We will recommend LaMacchia Travel Agency to any and all who inquire about our trip. Thanks again for all the help.

Thanks to Jessica, our Disney vacation was flawless.  She knew our needs and gave honest opinions and recommendations.  I had made so many changes along the way and she was always helpful and patient.  She made everything work out perfectly, that we did not encounter one problem during our trip.  Working with her is easy and fun.  We were returning customers of hers and will only go to and recommend her to others.  I also appreciate LaMacchia's Disney Day with a rep there to answer any questions.  That was also very helpful and gave us a start to planning our dream vacation. Thanks to all at LaMacchia!

It was amazing! I loved the resort and I would recommend it to anyone. The staff was amazing and the food was great. The swim up bar was open until 2am so that was awesome. And the staff kept it open later some nights,  the rooms were gorgeous! they were featured in Architectural Digest.   You were great to work with and I look for ward to booking my next trip with you. I attached some photos.

3 Generation European Vacation!

My husband and I just returned from an 8 day stay at the Riu Palace Bavaro; we had the TIME of our life! I have to say I use Tripadvisor for e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g and was a bit hesitant after reading all of the reviews, regardless, most of the reviews have a lot of truth to them, you just need to go, experience it yourself and ENJOY ALL the RIU has to offer.
We arrived at the airport after a non-stop flight from Chicago, security and customs arriving were a breeze...We booked our vacation through Apple and our bus was waiting for us...30-35 minutes later we were at the resort....Bus ride was nice, showed a lot of the local flavor as we drove through town to get oceanside.
The loby was modern, clean and classy...Check in was quick. Our flight was early so our room was not quite ready...we were offered drinks, given wrist bands and were told we could go and enjoy the buffet, pool, beach etc...We chose to eat. The buffet was full of MANY choices...if you can't find something to your liking you must be a picky eater. Our room was ready as soon as we were done eating...
Our room was cool (temp wise) clean, and just what we expected....Hint I discovered, take and old room key with a magnetic strip on the back with you...there is a slot in the wall...keep it in there to keep your ac and fan going while you are away for the day...there is nothing like coming back to a nice, cool room after being out in the hot sun all day :) The only dissapointment with the room were the beds...we had 2 doubles that were pushed together to make a california king....we were on our honeymoon...the beds were divided and would slide on the tile floor...so we had to sleep seperatly or squish onto one. There is a bar in the room and a fridge. The fridge was restocked regulary but never got very cold. Ice was close. Our room overlooked Carribean Street...quiet, away from the bustle...loved it!
The pool bar was a favorite for us...drinks were pleanty, fast and full of yuumy local rum. The only beer they have is the local beer which is Presidente...we loved it! Although it is better out of the can than the tap, I suspect they don't clean their lines very often.
The beach was AMAZING...Soft, powered sugar beaches-no rocks...surf was a bit wavy as you are on the Atlantic side but deffinatly not a hinderance. To the left, and about 500 yards out is a shipwrek...pretty cool! The only negative that I have to say about the beach is that the boats come very close to shore...they drive reckless and smelled like fuel.
The food was good/average...we ate at two of the special resturants...the steakhouse was our favorite...the Fusion was weird, did not care for the food or selection there. The main buffet was great...Breakfast was my favorite...frest fruit juice, fresh fruit, pasteries, eggs (10 + different kinds) meats, cheeses, cereal...you name it it was there...We usually ate lunch at Tiano, which is the steakhouse at night...they are open for lunch daily with a buffet...nice spot at the back of the resturant, breeze off the ocean, view of swaying palm trees....HEAVEN!! Dinner was good....every other night they had a theme night with specialty drinks and music. There was a lot of variety...quality was so-so...
We took an excursion to Saona Island on a beautiful catamaran!! The sailing was smooth and relaxing. The island is beautiful, lunch was good, drinks were pleanty...the only draw-back were the local vendors...VERY persistant and did not take NO for an answer...we went there to relax...this island is on the Carribean side....bluest water you will ever see...however...save your money...the constant pestering by the vendors was such a trun off....not relaxing at all, plus why pay all that money to go to a similar island to do the same thing you do at your own island....
The rest of our trip was spent between the beautiful beach and the pool bar....relaxing...relaxing....relaxing and more relaxing.
Transfer back to the airport was again about 30 minutes...customs this time took FOREVER!! Plan on being in line for at least an hour.
Over all we had the time of our lives on this vacation.....Highly recommend this Riu property

Room Tip: Rooms farther away from the front are quieter...Bring an old room key to keep the ac and fan running...

Nothing can be easier than having someone book everything for you and for a low cost fee.  Thank you Jodi for yet another wonderful Alaska vacation.  Mike and I are ready to start planning for another cruise.  All the planning was well worth it, everything went so smoothly.  We had so much fun and tons of relaxing as well.

When considering a registry both my new husband and I knew we didn’t need any traditional items…one family can only use so many mixing bowls! While doing a little research we came across La Macchia. A honeymoon registry was exactly what we were looking for! I was so surprised that they would not only do our registry but they also did not take a percentage of our gifts like so many other companies we had spoken with prior to finding La Macchia.

Our families found it so easy to gift us with a contribution towards our honey moon…..the whole staff was amazing.

Three days after our wedding on May 25, 2013 we set out for Riviera Maya, Mexico. The travel was so easy! La Macchia had thought of everything including informing us about the aggressive timeshare salesman in the lobby of the airport. We arrived to find everything in order with our hotel. Our swim up room was amazing!

Even though, we were caught in the tail end of a hurricane 3 days after arriving the resort staff bent over backwards to make sure we had an amazing trip.

We would book again with La Macchia in a heartbeat! Thank you so much for making sure our honeymoon was amazing.

Epic Vacation!

For our son’s high school senior year springbreak we wanted to take him on an “epic” vacation.  He would be going off to college in the fall and we wanted to have a vacation that we would all remember for years to come.  We truly got that experience and much of that can be attributed to Tom Karnes of LaMacchia Travel.

We were thinking of going somewhere in Europe but did not have anything specific in mind.  We met with Maria Bonanno and Tom Karnes at LaMacchia to begin planning our vacation.  Tom suggested we consider joining a group already organized through our son’s school to travel to France and Italy.  We decided to join the group so our son would be with other students his age and with whom he was familiar.  A group of approximately 60 adults and teenagers travelled by plane, train and bus through France and Italy.  The entire trip was fantastic and flawless.

We had just the right amount of scheduled events and free time so we could explore on our own.  We had a tour director who escorted the group throughout the trip. He was personable, knowledge and fun.  In addition, we had local guides with us when we toured local attractions.  They were also knowledgeable and highlighted the various locales.

This trip was exactly the “epic” vacation we hoped to give our son.  We made friends with the others that were on the trip and have memories for a lifetime.  In fact, we are already discussing where to go next in Europe.  We will again plan our vacation through LaMacchia Travel.

Thank you LaMacchia for this truly wonderful European vacation.

I recently planned a destination wedding with another agency.  Upon doing so and immediatley after sending wedding invites the hotel in which my wedding and all invites were sent for was sold out.  Meaning my wedding party did not have rooms.  Thinking that was a bad situation my agent quit leaving all my guests clueless on who to contact. After horrible customer service, I got in contact with La Macchia Travel Agency. They promptly started cleaning up the mess.  They greated me immediatly with solutions  and provided me with new information to send my guests.  My guests and I recieved above and beyond phenomenal customer service! An agency who truly cares about their people.  Thank you so much Katie Roscioli!

Iberostar Bauaro- Punta Cana

It was beautiful! Paradise in every way. The hotel was well kept and the rooms super nice. We didn't do anything except sit on the beautiful beach and we loved every minute if it. The food was not superior, but we didn't go there for the food.  The breakfasts and coffee were great, but the dinners and lunches were a bit different.  Not a big deal at all.  We honestly loved it and would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks!!!
